MAYLANDS’
The Rise will go Pink for Perth Fashion on Friday, November 16, as WA
fashion designers band together to raise money for the Cancer Council
WA’s Pink Ribbon Day.
Guildford
mother-of-three and event organiser Kymm Battle-Burrows said she
decided to hold the function following the discovery of WA talent after
starting her online supportive network Perth Fashion Focused.
“As a teenager, I was involved with clothes and runway shows and my love for the fashion industry has never faded,” Mrs Battle-Burrows said.
“In January I launched Perth Fashion Focused, which supports emerging and established labels from Western Australia.
“We have such incredibly talented designers in our state and I felt it important to share this with Australia and the world.
“I
believe that there is no need for people to purchase fashion or goods
from anywhere but our state and through my social media network I am
getting this message across.”
The
event, a ladies night out where Perth women can meet the designers
which include Scarborough jeweller Keiko Uno and karate champion turned
handbag designer Jessica Bratich-Johnson, view their collections and
shop as well as participate in the silent auction all while being spoilt
with pink sparkling wine, a pink dessert buffet, a gift bag and beauty
lounge.
“Pink For Perth Fashion was created to showcase some of these labels to ladies of Perth during a ‘Ladies Night Out’,” she said.
“The
evening is all about supporting our labels and women in business in
Perth, supporting Pink Ribbon Day and breast cancer research and
thanking those for shopping locally and supporting WA’s talented
designers.”
Around 26 designers will showcase their designs as well as four other retailers on the night.
